Zagreb (pronounced ZA-greb) is the capital city of Croatia. The city’s population was 779,145 in 2001, 1,088,841 in its metropolitan area which includes Samobor, Velika Gorica and Zaprešić. The city is situated between the southern slopes of Medvednica mountain and the northern bank of the Sava river, it is 120 m above sea level.
Its favorable geographic position in the southwestern part of the Pannonian Basin, which extends to the Alpine, Dinaric, Adriatic and Pannonic regions, provides an excellent connection for traffic between Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea. (more…)

Vrbovsko is a town and a municipality in western Croatia, situated at the far east of the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county; on its 280 square kilometers area, Vrbovsko features 60 settlements and 6,047 inhabitants (2001). The town of Vrbovsko itself has a population of 1,894 (2001).
In the north, river Kupa separates Vrbovsko from adjoining Slovenia, while the eastern border follows the line of Zdihovo, Liplje and Bosiljevo settlements and cuts through the river Dobra valley near LjubuÅ¡ina. The western border starts at the Kupa gorge at RadoÄ?aj, goes around Razdrto and passes over the railway tracks between Koritnik Veliki and Palež, continues to Lužac and ends in SuÅ¡ica-Jablan area (more…)

Trogir (Latin Tragurion, Italian Traù) is a historic town and harbour at the Adriatic coast in Croatia, in Split-Dalmatia county, 27 km west of Split, with population 10,907 (2001), total municipality population 13,322 (2001), positioned at 43:31N lat and 16:16E long.
The city’s historic core is on the UNESCO world heritage list.
History
Trogir was founded by Greek colonists from the island of Vis in the 3rd century BC, and it developed into a major port in the Roman period. Sudden prosperity of Salona deprived Trogir of its importance. During the migration of Slavs the citizens of the destroyed Salona escaped to Trogir. From the 9th century Trogir was paying tribute to the Croatian rulers. The diocese of Trogir was established in the 11th century (abolished in 1828) and in 1107 it was chartered by the Hungarian-Croatian king Coloman, gaining thus its autonomy as a town. (more…)
