Suceava (German Suczawa, Yiddish שאָץ Shots) is a city in the Suceava county, Bucovina, Romania. Population – 108,735 (July 2002). It is located in the NE of Romania.
History
The city of Suceava was the capital of the first centralized state of Moldavia (between 1359 and 1565) under the rule of Bogdan I, Petru Musat and Stefan cel Mare. It was then under the rule of the Austrian Empire from(1775-1918), at the end of WWI to be incorporated in Greater Romania.
